I went to CCA on the SF campus for a symposium when I walked by a display of concept cellphones. As you can imagine, they are all intriguing but this one caught my eye. Too bad I neglected to catch the student's name.

The Texas Board of Education met Friday to revise its social studies curriculum. The Board's far-right faction succeeded in injecting ultra-conservative ideals into social studies, history, and economic lessons for K-12 children. Among the radical changes in education: no reference to sex and gender esp. LGBTs, no requirement to acknowledge Tejanos in Texas history, no separation of church-state principles, and removed Thomas Jefferson as an influential Enlightenment thinker during the American Revolutionary period.

As a teacher and a citizen, I am horrified, infuriated. and utterly disgusted at the right-wing Christian fundamentalist assault on education.

Hatem and I were undergrads at SFSU, and we hadn't seen each other for over ten years since we started grad school. After the talk, we were able to sit and catch up on *EVERYTHING*!
