Again, I missed another daily shot. So here's an old panoramic shot that I took in June on top of the Oakland Museum of California. This was made up of 59 shots total and stitched together using Calico.

I don't know if this counts as "shot today." I took 33 shots of this artwork at SFMOMA two weeks ago, but I didn't stitch it together until today. I figure since it's my project, I'll do whatever I want. The art piece was made by Barry McGee: www.sfmoma.org/artwork/17536.

Watched the Swedish film "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" ... difficult to watch but an amazing mystery thriller.

Finishing an article, querying publishers, and writing grant proposals before the end of the month ... Did I miss anything else?

Another photo panorama shot with a 50mm lens at f/2.8. I took 26 shots that was stitched together to construct a wide angle shot of the art piece. Again, I left it "as is" to see where the gaps are.

Mayor Dellums: Come out & address the citizens of Oakland. Quit fucking around in your "command center" that's miles away from anything.

Totally disgusted w/local news coverage of the demonstrations at Oakland City Hall. It's as though the news wants to see a riot happen!

Here's the difference: voluntary manslaughter would be a possible 11 year sentence; 2nd degree murder, 25 years. Involuntary is nothing.

The decision is basically what Mehserle could hope for ... 4 year sentence, out in about 2 for parole.

Once again I left the final picture uncropped to see the gaps. There's also some uneven areas along the edges of the table to which I attribute that to bad camera technique on my part.

I decided to play around with stitching/panoramic shots today. Specifically, I wanted to think about how I could manipulate the depth of field with different focal lengths and apertures. This photograph is the result of 51 shots stitched together using a really great program called Calico. I decided to leave the shot "as is" to show the various gaps. There was a slight breeze that resulted in a blurring of the bamboo branches. I'll try a different focal length tomorrow.
